When a toilet blocks, the question that matters is where. A simple bowl-level blockage — too much paper, a child’s toy, an air freshener cage that slipped off the rim — is a quick fix. But if the water rises in the bowl and the shower gurgles, or the overflow gully in the garden starts holding water, the real blockage is in the drainage line that serves the whole house. Treating that like a bowl problem wastes time you may not have before sewage backs up indoors.
